Collaborative Innovation Center for Advanced Ship and Deep-Sea Exploration (the "Center") was set up and operated in August 2012. Led by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Center is jointly established by China State Shipping Corporation  Limited, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology, Wuhan University of Technology and China Classification Society. It is oriented to meet the national significant strategic demands of constructing maritime power and lead the frontiers of ship-sea science and technology. Through combining major industrial enterprises, universities and research institutes in the field of ship and sea, the Center  makes researches on the key technologies and core scientific issues, and carries out Interdisciplinary frontier exploration and common technology research urgently needed by industries to achieve comprehensive coordination between high-tech ships and deep-sea development equipment scientific research.

        Focusing on the four major segements of exploration, development, transportation and rights protection of deep-sea resources, the Center greatly gathers brilliant talents in the fields of ship and marine engineering at home and abroad to study the three major fields of high-tech ships, deep-sea equipment and underwater systems, and forms a high-level scientific research team to carry out the collaborative innovation and research and development work of  “industry-university-research”.
