The 2015 Council Meeting of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Advanced Ship and Deep-Sea Exploration was held at the OCE of SJTU on 10 April, 2015. The council members from China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, China Ship Scientific Research Center, China Classification Society, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology and the other related enterprises and corporations attended the meeting. The administrators of SJTU, the deputy director of the Collaborative Innovation Center, the supervisors of each of the research teams as well as a part of the faculty members also attended the meeting.

In response to the national strategic requirement of building China into a maritime power, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Advanced Ship and Deep-Sea Exploration was founded in August, 2012, and then approved by the central government of China in October, 2014. The Collaborative Innovation Center, which now consists of the nine research teams, has grown into an integrated, collaborative and innovative organization whose focus mainly covers the three orientations, namely, the advanced ship building, the deep-sea facilities and the underwater systems.

The council members exchanged deeply the viewpoints as regards the top-level design, the research orientation, the talent nurturing, the coordination mechanism and the practical fulfillment of the Collaborative Innovation Center. They reached the agreement that the Collaborative Innovation Center is supposed to develop the standard practice of innovation and management so that the center will be playing a more vital role in the technological innovation of the marine engineering.
