On the occasion of the 119th anniversary of the founding of SJTU, more than 260 alumni and alumnae, who graduated from School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering of SJTU in the year of 1965, 1966, 1974 and 1985 respectively, were reunited once again to celebrate the birthday of the alma mater on 11 April, 2015.

Welcome back home!” The alumni and alumnae, after decades’ separation, were cordially hailed when they gathered at SJTU. The one-day alumni tour started with the 119th anniversary commemoration ceremony of SJTU in the morning, after which, the tour paid a visit to the Underwater Engineering Laboratory, the Underwater Sound Laboratory, the Wind Tunnel Laboratory and the Ship Model Towing Tank Laboratory affiliated to NAOCE, SJTU.

A few members of the alumni tour group were actively engaged in the exchange with the young students in the midst of the others’ visit to the four laboratories.

Ma Yunyi, known as "China's Mater of Ship Building", gave an inspiring lecture to the undergraduates who are majored in marine engineering in the Meeting Room A206 of Mulan Chu Chao Building. The alumni and alumnae majored in marine engineering and engineering mechanics shared their career following the graduation from SJTU.

All members of the alumni group assured that they have always been feeling closely attached to the alma mater since graduation. They have never moved their attention away from the disciplinary development and student education of NAOCE, SJTU. Thanks to the academic career at SJTU, they have learnt to fulfill the commitments in the different trades of the society. They encouraged the young students to strive for the further progress of China’s marine engineering.
