On June 25th, China Strategy Institute of Ocean Engineering, the first national strategic research institute of China, uncovered its veil. The founding ceremony and the first work conference was held in SJTU.

With the fierce competition in developing ocean resource and marine economy, strategic research on ocean engineering becomes the urgent requirement of China’s sustainable development. The Institute is one of the strategic research union institutes of China and it is also the first national strategic research institute of China in the area of marine equipment.

In the first work conference, experts and professors discussed important issues such as marine development strategy in the Belt and Road Initiative, the future development of ocean engineering, high technology development in shipbuilding, marine equipment engineering technology and so on.

The founding of Strategy Institute of Ocean Engineering has got a strong support of  Ministry of Education and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, Shanghai Municipal Government, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, China State Shipbuilding Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, etc. Ministry of Science and Technology, State Oceanic Administration, China Classification Society, marine industry association and universities will participate in the construction of the Institute. China Strategy Institute of Ocean Engineering will gather academicians and experts of the field of marine science and technology together and complete more and more high-level research achievements.
