In order to provide a platform for the researchers to exchange recent research and to strengthen academic cooperation, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Osaka University (OU) have held an annual academic exchange seminar since 1995. As an important part of this seminar, the 2022 exchange seminar on NAOE was successfully held in Zoom on the afternoon of November 29, 2022. The seminar was chaired by associate professor Xinliang Tian from SJTU. Professor Iijima Kazuhiro from OU and associate professor Zhengshun Cheng from SJTU chaired parts of this seminar. Ten academic presentations were invited to this seminar, including five ones from SJTU and others from Osaka University. Nearly 50 people participated online and offline.

For the opening, welcome messages were delivered from both parties. Prof Jian Yang, the vice-dean of the school of Naval Architecture, Ocean & Civil Engineering, SJTU, welcomed with a big expectation on this seminar and introduced SJTU. He hoped that the academic seminar to be held successfully. Prof Umeda Naoya, the former head of the division of global architecture, OU, mentioned about the more than 27 years of history of this exchange seminar since 1995. Before closing, the participants exchanged opinions about this seminar. They unanimously agreed that the presentations were well-prepared and of good quality. They agreed to have a similar type of exchange seminar, hosted by OU in 2023, hopefully in-person. The presentation materials were shared between the two parties.
