School of Ocean and Civil Engineering Signs Cooperation Agreement with Lloyd’s Register on Polar Marine Equipment Technology

On January 19, the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University signed a cooperation agreement with Lloyd’s Register, focusing on deepening collaboration in the field of polar marine equipment technology. The signing ceremony was attended by Li Tianxiang, President of Lloyd’s Register Greater China; Fu Zongzheng, Global New Construction Portfolio Manager at Lloyd’s Register; and Rob Tustin, New Construction Manager for North Asia at Lloyd’s Register. Attendees representing the university included Fu Shixiao, Dean of the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering; Lin Zhiliang, Assistant to the Dean; and Li Fang, a faculty representative from the Polar Marine Equipment Technology Innovation Team.

During the signing ceremony, Fu Shixiao delivered a welcome address on behalf of the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering. He pointed out that the School and Lloyd’s Register have long maintained a strong cooperative relationship, and the signing of this agreement serves as a key measure to further deepen high-level university-enterprise cooperation. Facing the national strategic requirements for polar development and global technological frontiers, Dean Fu stated that the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering will fully leverage its research and talent advantages in the naval architecture and ocean engineering sectors. The School aims to collaborate closely with Lloyd’s Register in technical research and development, regulatory standards, engineering verification, and the transformation of achievements to realize complementary advantages and win-win development.

Li Tianxiang highly commended the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering for its robust scientific research capabilities and outstanding achievements in talent cultivation. He expressed that Lloyd’s Register will rely on its profound expertise in the study of technical regulations and engineering applications for polar marine equipment to continuously deepen cooperation with the School, jointly driving technological progress and high-quality development within the industry.

During the session, Lin Zhiliang provided a brief introduction to the disciplinary layout and representative research achievements of the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering. Rob Tustin reviewed the outcomes of prior cooperation between the two parties and outlined the key directions and implementation mechanisms under the new agreement. Subsequently, witnessed by the distinguished guests, Fu Shixiao and Li Tianxiang formally signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

The signing of this agreement marks a new stage in the collaboration between the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering and Lloyd’s Register in the field of polar marine equipment technology. Using this agreement as a cornerstone, both parties will continue to exert efforts in collaborative research innovation and high-end talent cultivation, continuously expanding the depth and breadth of university-enterprise cooperation to jointly serve the innovative development needs of the industry.
