According to the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject, Shanghai Jiao Tong University of China ranks 29th in the category of civil and structural engineering  and 41st in architecture.

The QS World University Rankings, sponsored and launched by the UK named Quacquarelli Symonds corporate consultative group, is now recognized as one of the most authoritative university rankings around the globe.

The QS University Rankings by Subject, introduced in 2011, is based upon the four factors including academic reputation, single citation rate, graduate employability and H-Index (High-Citation Index).

SJTU has consecutively maintained the world top 100 in the category of civil and structural engineering from 2011 to 2014. In 2015, SJTU, only next to Tsinghua University, ranks the second place in terms of civil and structural engineering amongst the universities in mainland China.

The subjects of architecture, veterinarian, business administration, art and design, development research and dentistry are taken into account for the first time in the rankings. Following Tsinghua University and Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, placing the 41st in the category of architecture, makes an impressive debut show.
