The OCE of SJTU has been the first to discover the “Shallow Water Effects” incurred by the FPSO(Floating Production Storage and Offloading). On the basis of the theoretical analyticmethods and the numerical computing software in regard to 3D dynamic response of the soft yoke mooring system, a set of the brand-new methods and way of thinking have come into being to promote the optimization design of the floating body in shallow water. The achievements have been put into practice in the oil exploitation in Bohai Sea oil fields, including BZ25-1 and PL 19-3.
